“Let men see, let them know, a real man, who lives as he was meant to live.”
– Marcus Aurelius
The majority of today’s Western men have grown accustomed to being soft and comfortable; spoon-fed a belief system from mainstream media, and entirely captivated by an empty culture of smartphones, video games, organized sports, and beer-pong.
We live in a world where ‘best friends’ hit the bar every weekend, but strategically avoid helping their so-called brothers move across town in a time of need.
Sometimes, however, all people need is a kick in the butt when it comes to inspiration. Subconsciously, we all look for this inspiration within our circle of influence and absorb the energies or stimulation around us.
This is your opportunity to connect on a deeper level with your brethren and begin to uncover your spiritual offering for yourself. A chance to embody your spirit.
How or what can you do to inspire spirit among your ‘tribe’ or fellow men?
To some folks, embodying spirit may mean harvesting the fruits of labor from your garden, starting your own business, writing a book, teaching others, raising a family, hunting for your food, tattooing your entire body, instructing yoga or martial arts, communing with plant-gods and visiting other dimensions, fighting competitively, or riding your motorcycle across the country on a spiritual quest.
Whatever embodying spirit means to you, is exactly what you should be doing.
Join a club, start a group, create camaraderie and connection among your fellow men. In times like these, with an ever-increasing age of technology that apparently brings us closer together, and a new era of smartphones and stupid people, we as men need this more than ever.
Slaving away on a well-worn path that means nothing to your soul is pointless, and inherently detrimental to your well being.
Fuck societal influences and what everybody else thinks you should be doing.
Be true to yourself.
Blaise Pascal once said a quote that rang very true for me;
“All of humanity’s problems stem from Man’s inability to sit quietly in a room alone.”
When was the last time you were alone with your thoughts?
Away from other people, your phone, and the never-ending onslaught of distraction.
I dare you to try this out, for many people out there it can be the toughest thing to do. Beyond this new world order of convenience, interruption, and noise that so easily fills our days and minds, exists a place where we desperately need to spend more time.
Do not fear this place inside yourself, instead, be patient and just feel what arises.
This simple yet effective technique is more powerful than you can ever imagine.
Your mind and body are the most capable and magickal tools in your worldly arsenal, utilize these to your advantage by listening more intently.
Every single thing in our man-made landscape that surrounds us was first perceived or understood by the mind, then built by the body and brought to life through spirit.
Encourage this growth to continue within your own life, in the energies you offer to yourself, and your circle. Believe me, it will have a profound effect on everything.
In closing, I’d like to pass along another inspiring quote from one of the greats.
“My brain is the key that sets me free.” – Harry Houdini
It’s high time you set yourself free upon the world.
It’s time for you to embody your spirit.
